Decorating an Odd Window

I have an awkward window in a small bedroom of my house that I'd like to hang some curtains for, just I can't quite figure out where/how to hang them. Any suggestions?

Re: Decorating an Odd Window

  • Honestly...is there a reason for having curtains there {privacy etc}? It looks like the molding is pretty detailed, what about doing just a cafe/tier halfway up the window?

  • Not reeeaally. I found some pretty curtains at a flea market  - just two single panels, and it's the only room in the house with just one window. It's my "office", and I thought they'd be nice to have in there.
  • I'd install a curtain rod on the board/beam above the window, or depending on the size of the curtains, possibly remove the blinds and do a tension rod inside the frame. I think pretty curtains would be nice there. I love the "hideout" feel of that pic.
  • I would hang a curtain rod on the wooden beam above the window along the top edge, but I'd be sure to make sure it was wide enough to extend at least all the way to the edge of the wood on the right side, where it starts to slant down. I think the curtains would actually cover up some of the odd angles. You might even be able to have the rod extend past the beam if you can attach it to the wall.

Or make the curtains into a roman shade instead. I've not done it myself but I think it is a fairly simple project for someone with a sewing machine and a bit of experience.
