Santa Fe, New Mexico for Winter Vacation?

Our anniversary trip is coming up and we were thinking about heading to Santa Fe. It is somewhere new where neither one of us has been. We are planning to go mid December. Has anyone been during the winter time? Would you recommend going?

Re: Santa Fe, New Mexico for Winter Vacation?

  • I was in Santa Fe in Feb a few years back.  It was nice.  You needed a light jacket but beyond that the weather was much nicer then what we have in the northeast that time of year.  We actually stayed in Albuquerque and took our time wandering up the turquoise trail.  Lots of neat things to do/see/eat.  We would def. go back again.

  • We went last January before my DH started a new job. We stayed in Santa Fe and went skiing during the day (Ski Santa Fe). There was fresh snow on the mt but only a dusting in town. There are lots of great restaurants there. DH is a foodie. Our favs: Harrys Roadhouse (all meals), Tecalote (bfast - get the pastry basket instead of bread), Marias for dinner and margaritas, Tomasitas (dinner), Gabriels (dinner - fresh made guac at your table). Albuquerque is not too far. If you are interested in indian jewelry I suggest Indian Treasures in Old town.
