Have you ever set up friends or have been set up?

I have neither been set up or set anyone else up. My parents however met on a blind date!

Both! After H and I started dating we set up some friends of ours but they didn't work out. Also I guess you could say H and I were sort of set up. We both knew a lot about each other from a mutual friend but had never met then she had invited him over to our party one night and she ended up leaving before he did.

H and I met through on-line/gaming friends but it wasn't a set up. We just ended up in a game together and then several and then here we are.

I set up my friends and it was the worst thing I ever could have done. I lost them both as friends because they became obsessed with each other. They have been on and off since my initial set up for almost 6 years now *rolls eyes*

I haven't ever really been set up exactly, but in college, a friend dislocated her knee, and apparently the EMT on the ambulance saw me walking across campus, so she invited him to a party to introduce us- and that lasted almost 2 years.

H and I met at a Halloween Party on Halloween 5 years ago.  Neither of us were invited, and we didn't have any mutual friends, but our friends had mutual friends, if that makes sense. So, not really a set-up, but it felt safer than meeting someone random.

 

I basically refuse to set my friends up.  I will arrange an introduction, but I do not set them up on a date. If they choose to date, so be it. And more than one set of friends I have 'introduced' have ended up dating long term, even married. I'm good like that
