Red accent wall in kitchen?

My downstairs is very open and painted all beige.  We really want to give it some color!  We're planning to paint the dining room red but are worried it will look funny as the only red room.  We were thinking of painting a red accent wall in the kitchen to match.  It would give the kitchen some color and break up the openness a bit.  What do you think?

Re: Red accent wall in kitchen?

  • Maybe try painting just the dining room first and living with it for awhile before you decide. You can pull the red into the kitchen with decor--towels, canisters, wall art, etc. I feel like accent walls are a bit dated, but they do sometimes work well.

  • We have an open floor plan and went with all beige but did one wall in the kitchen facing the living room red.  I'm really happy we did...it adds some interest and warms up the room.  Even if it was a bigger wall, I'd still be happy.image
