Best/worst read in October

Sorry it's late :( somehow I forgot that Halloween is the last day of October

Best and worst reads of the month and why?

All I read this month were the 2 first books of GoT... I preferred Game of Thrones to Clash of Kings but they were both excellent.

Re: Best/worst read in October

  • I read books 3-6 of HP. So there wasn't really a worst this month.

  • I'd say Escape: A New Life was my "worst". Still three stars.

My best was probably The Dream Thieves with a slight edge over Hourglass (McEntire.)

  • GR says I only read 4 books in October, but that doesn't seem correct.  Oh well.  The Shining was the best with The Perks of Being a Wallflower a really close second, and there wasn't really a worst.  Of the four I'd say Inferno was last but I didn't hate any of the books I read.

  • I had two 5 stars and two 4 stars. The fivers were Me Before You and The Hangman's Daughter. The 4 stars were A Hidden Witch and Horns. I really liked them all, so no worst for me.

  • I gave Lauren Oliver's Delerium only 2 stars. I really hated how she ended the series. My only 5 star book of the month was Macy Beckett's Surender to Sultry (which I loved!) A close second was Follett's Fall of Giants.

  • Best: The Dream Thieves followed very closely by Endless Knight by Kresley Cole
Worst: Not terrible by any means, but Wither only got 3 stars from me.

  • I only read two.

Handle with Care by Jodi Picoult got 2 stars from me and I really think it was just OK.

ROOM by Emma Donoghue was a really good read and I gave it 4 stars.

  • My least favorite book was Ella Minnow Pea. I just thought it was boring- I never felt drawn back to keep reading it.

Favorite is tied between Warm Bodies and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

  • Best: Divergent and Insurgent by Veronica Roth

Worst: Neverwhere by Neil Gaimen - This was my first NG and I didn't care for it.  I haven't written him off yet.  I'm going to try another soon and see if I just picked the wrong one to try first.

Best: The Dream Thieves (though The 5th Wave was a close second).
Worst: The Ocean at the End of the Lane. Wasn't bad by any means. I liked it and gave it three stars, but it just happened to be among a lot of other great books this month.
My favorite place on earth: The Amargosa Valley.

  • I read a lot of great books in October, my favourite was Quiet by Susan Cain.  My two least favorite (that I still gave 3 stars to) were Born in Ice by Nora Roberts because its was so boring and predictable.  Allegiant because it felt like it was written in a rush but I still really liked it.

Worst - The Longest Ride by Nicholas Sparks.  I still gave it 3 stars but I had a ridiculously good reading month.

  • Nothing was bad, but based on my GR Ratings:
Eleanor & Park was the best, since it was the only one that got 5 stars.
The worst, at three stars was a tie between The Demon King and The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, but I enjoyed both of them.
  • Nothing too horrible, but I guess my worst was Hell House.  I just couldn't get into it.

Best was If You Find Me by Emily Murdoch.  Really good story.

  • Best: Tie between Horns and The Fault in Our Stars.  They were both very very good.

Worst: After Dead (Sookie #13.5)  It was a waste of time to read it and basically just a promotion for future series that she will be writing.

  • I don't have a worst! I read 4 books: A Storm of Swords, Divergent, Insurgent, and Neverwhere. All were 5 stars, except for Neverwhere, which I gave 4 stars. Divergent was probably the best, although SoS is a very very close 2nd.

I didn't really read anything bad in Oct, but my least favorite might have been In the Garden of the Beast.
