CM/CF help?

Hello ladies,

I need your expertise. I'm really trying to chart this month and follow my bodies ovulation signs. So on trying to classify my CM but having issues. I've found I get a better look when I use toliet paper and kind of (sorry if this is TMI) dab inside to look at it. I thought it was sticky the past two days but today I think it was more creamy but not quite white. Does this sound like I'm almost to O?

Re: CM/CF help?

  • Watery (thin, clearish, and slippery) and especially egg-white (clear and stretchy, seriously like the white of an egg in look and texture) are the most fertile types of CM. Sticky and creamy (a lot like lotion) aren't.

  • CM alone can make it hard to pinpoint O, have you given any thought to charting your Basal Body Temperature (BBT)?
  • Sounds like your still having creamy CM.
They way I always could tell is sticky/creamy leaves irregular marks on my underwear and watery/EW would leave a more round mark.
As PP said EW literally looks like eggwhite and is stretchy.

  • CM is hard to pinpoint and takes practice to be able to tell the difference between the different kinds in your own body. The other posters here have had great advice though!

  • Looking at CM was never easy for me.  I just ended up with weird bodily fluids all over myself regularly.  Charting my temp was a million times easier.  Sorry I'm not much help.

  • I always find it easiest to manually check cm and usually have to get right in there to really tell. That combined with temping have been very accurate for me. It sounds like you aren't ready to o yet based on that type of cm

  • I've been temping since AF ended last week but I feel like I'm reading into it too much (maybe because it's my first month tracking and I'm still getting the hang of reading the chart). Thank you ladies for the help, I just felt like an idiot sitting in the restroom at work examining my used toilet paper and poking at it to see if it's more creamy or sticky. I guess it's just one of the joys of TTC.

  • I know it seems gross but I insert my fingers and move them around a little and pull out the CM so I can really look at it. On toilet paper you can't always see the color or texture.

Egg White - So-called egg white cervical mucus is the most fertile of all CM types because it allows the sperm to swim easily into the cervix. Its consistency is similar to raw egg whites and it can stretch an inch or two without breaking in the middle.

Watery - Watery CM is second best for conception, after egg white CM. It allows sperm to move unhindered into the cervix, but doesn't make the sperm's job quite as easy. When you have watery CM, you may feel as though you've leaked urine in your underwear. Watery CM is clear in color and drips or runs off your fingers.

Creamy - Creamy CM is considered non-fertile because it greatly restricts the movement of sperm. Creamy CM can be a pearly white or creamy yellow. It's thick and feels like lotion when rubbed between the fingers.

Sticky - Sticky or tacky CM is the least fertile. It's thick and chunky and feels kind of like paste or like glue from a glue stick, making it hard for sperm to swim through.

  • A long time ago someone posted a thread titled "checking CM with fingers - PIP". Inside it just said "made you look". I think that thread got THOUSANDS of hits. It was hilarious.
