haircut

So, I realize that my last hair cut should have been in late April. About 8 weeks after the one before it... but I canceled it. So my hair has not been cut since like February.  It grows sorta fast and is long enough that it is getting caught between my back and chair when I sit at work or drive and is annoying. I am feeling the urge to go short again, like a bob.  Something I can wear straight or with my natural wave/curl perhaps. Or am I just reacting to the annoyance of the length now and should just keep it shoulder length?  Will I miss my pony tail? Really the only length I have had that seemed to suck was when I tried a pixie cut cause when I dried it, it always looked puffy like a mushroom.

Any favorite hair styles that are popular now?  I am open to just about anything aside from the Miley Cyrus. Help me decide!!

Re: haircut

  • This is a very timely post for me...I'm also overdue for a haircut and had my mind set before that once we got back from disney, I was going to chop it all off.  But...now that the time is here, I'm hesitant to pull the trigger!  not that my hair is super long, but it's a bit past my shoulders & I'm afraid I'll miss that bit of length.

this is the cut that I was planning on getting:

If you wanted to keep yours a bit longer, what about something like this that would add some layers?

  • I don't know what you should do.  I really only miss pony tails in the summer when it's hot!  I will say though, you came to an Oakland Ice cream gtg when you were pg and had short hair and I think you look really cute with short hair.  So saying that sometimes a change is nice.  And it's hair so it grows back!

  • Yea, I am bi-polar with hair.  Amber it was pretty short while I was pregnant (and I only regretted that once my face started looking rounder).   I think I last cut it short in 2011 (the year my mom was being treated for cancer and lost her hair I donated mine). So maybe it is time for short again.

Emmy, that cut is cute (And I also think you look really cute in a bob)

  • Timely for me, too. I purposefully didn't get a cut when I was due in May so that I could grow it out for camping in July. Pony tails while camping in summer are a must.

The past few months have been too busy and I am overdue. I'm torn between a shoulder length trim and going back to chin length.

That second picture you posted is cute, Emmy!

I love all of those haircuts but sadly my hair is super straight, so I can live vicariously through others.

I understand wanting to chop off the hair, I have a strong urge but my brother is getting married next August outside on a golf course in NC. Yeah, hair chop must wait until next year.

  • whatever you do don't get short layers around the face if you can't stand hair in your face! I foolishly fell for the "oh yea lets do something different and get layers" and now I walk around with a hidden bobby pin to keep the hair near my eyes that is too short to put behind my ear back!  I hate it & can't wait to grow it out again (and then I will cut it...again).

  • Personally I hate my hair in ponytails so I prefer having really short hair in the summer. With the humidity I can usually go with a messy look with short hair inthe summer with minimal effort. My hair was very short when we were in Hawaii and I loved it!

With that said I feel like I would stay longer for the winter. Maybe get some length off but not super short to see if you really do want to go back to short. Then you can chop it off in a few months.

I'm growing my hair out right now. I figured I'd give it a go for the winter and if I don't like it I will chop it inthe spring. I've been doing the same short bob for the last 5 years. I love it but my hair grows fast so it starts losing its cuteness quickly. I feel like short cuts need to be maintained so much more and I just can't make it in for cuts as much as I would need to.

  • I feel like if I'm going to chop it off, it needs to be now or not for another year...Brian's sister is getting married next November, so I know I'm going to want to be able to have an updo for that!!

  • I say cut it.  Hair cuts are temporary, and you said it grows sorta fast, so go for something new.

Since I found out that I have alopecia and will likely need a wig at some point, I am no longer wishy washy about what to do with my hair.  At my last hair appointment I had it cut to the shortest it's ever been, and I'm so glad that I just went for it because it's my favorite haircut that I've ever had!
  • Don't cut it short.  Layer it up for volume and styling versatility.  I like the longest layers at the collarbone.  It will still give you plenty of hair to work with.

  • Google Marion Cotilliard.  I think any of her looks, hair-wise, would work for you.

  • Well, it is done!  I ended up with a long bob of sorts. The front just barely skims my shoulders when straight. I have not washed it yet to try out the curls, but it is long enough that I think even curly it won't be too short. thanks for the encouragement and suggestions! I really like how it turned out!

  • Very cute!  I really like it!
  • Love it!  I've attempted a cut like that, but my hair is too thick for it to look that sleek and put together.  Great choice.
