What is the proper etiquette for giving wedding gifts to a couple, who did not give you a wedding gift? I dont want to come off as rude, but with all the weddings we have attended since being married, I try to keep things on an equal level, spending as much on the couple as they did on us.
Re: Giving Wedding Gifts
I've never heard of an etiquette for wedding gifts based on what they gave you for your wedding.
What I have heard for a rule of thumb is to consider the venue and the probable cost per person for your own attendance and try to at least match that cost.
Frankly? My personal approach is to get what I can afford for that couple at that time. I know I'm in the minority but I consider a gift just that.... a gift. You give what you can or want to give and hopefully the person receiving is gracious enough to feel nothing but gratitude for the gesture.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
