I know I mentioned it at dinner Saturday, but those who weren't there, Jeff has been looking for a new job. His company now aren't really giving him much work because they brought up drivers from their "base" in Baltimore and giving them the good runs since they have more company senority. Last summer, they denied his week vacation when we got the kids, at one point in the week giving him a run that almost always makes him stay the night (he got them to change it but it was still a 14 hour run). Now they have denied his Thanksgiving request off, our only holiday with the kids, saying no one is allowed off between T-day and Christmas.
Well... He got 2 offers!!!!!
The one we weren't too happy with, it's a pay cut, possible he would be gone all week and it's not car hauling which is his dream. Last night, we were talking about it when I got home and I told him to just wait and see.
While I'm heating up dinner, he got the second offer! It's car hauling for an owner operator. So a guy owns the tractor trailer and Jeff will drive it for him (I think he has 6 trucks). It gets his foot in the door to move up to his dream job, and owner operator is something else he wants to do, so he can see how it works.
Downside it's 1099, so we will have to figure out how to pay the taxes. We have a CPA that does our taxes, so I'm pushing to go talk to her if he decides that's what he wants to do. Oh and the owner operator said his other new driver is coming from same company Jeff is working for now. I'm glad it's not just us tired of the BS.
I told Jeff to think about it, and he scheduled to sign papers Monday for the new company... but everytime I talk to him today, he's more excited to switch. It's in Elkton, M-F and day shift!

The Rowdy Roberts
I've been researching it. But I think if he decides on it, I want to met with the CPA we go to, she's really helpful and doesn't charge a ton. At least to begin with.
