So I have been taking my OPK's 2-3 times a day since Tuesday and all have been negative. Fertility Friend says my O day is Sunday. This morning my temp took a dive, and it was pretty low which concerned me because my DH and I hadn't BD'd since Tuesday the 5th. But I had negative OPK's. Today they were a little closer to positive and I am going to take another OPK around 8pm to see what that one looks like.

Do you think I Ovulated today based on temps? Or am I going to ovulate soon, based on OPK's? Just confused lol

  • For some reason, when I click on your link it goes to Lucky's nest profile.  Copying the link itself did the trick though.

It's possible that today is O day, but you won't know for sure for a couple days.  Your OPKs are getting very close and the temp drop is common before O.  If it were me, I'd try and get busy tonight if possible.

  • I agree with PP, shoot for EOD.
  • So wait do you O the day it dips or the day it spikes? I thought it spikes from progesterone after O. I could be wrong Im still learning it all 4 months in lol

  • The day it dips I think. FF labels the first rise as 1DPO, so O would be the day before, or where it dips.

    Right?

*sits back and waits for more input*
  • Not everyone gets the big dip before O, but many do.  I usually did.

If your temp jumps tomorrow (and of course stays elevated) then you O'd today.  The spike, followed by 2 more temps higher than the previous six, confirms O.  It's recommended that you continue EOD until confirmed.

  • Okay. Ugh I thought I had a couple more days but something tells me today was it. I guess all I can do is wait and see what my temps do. And if it was today pray that the 3rd, 5th and 8th were enough.

  • @looneylife you explained that very well, thank you
  • You can always get busy again tomorrow night (later than 5 to give him more than 24 hours). It's usually a good call to cover the day after O as well if you're able.

  • Def JUST got a positive OPK the real positive. So that should give me 12-36 hours but with todays temp dip I'm just lost. So I'm going to do what you all said and just keep BD EOD until O confirmed by temps.

  • 12-36 hours I think is average. For some women it could only be 6 hours or less. Either way, if you already hit tonight, I'd wait til tomorrow night like lucky suggested.

     Good luck!

Sounds like a good plan. Try not to think too hard about the temp dip. Mine only dips every few cycles, and sometimes it's been the day before O (as in, I have a low/"dipped" temp, an average pre-O temp, then a spike, with confirmed O on that middle day). It's not an exact science. But with a +ve OPK, you really probably do have until tomorrow. Enjoy!

  • Try not to over-analyze.  Temps, CM, and OPKs are all pieces of the puzzle.  Don't put too much emphasis onto any one thing (especially temps).  You have to look at everything together and sometimes you just won't have that last piece until AFTER you ovulate and you see the temp spike.  It can be frustrating at times, but it sounds like you've already got good timing if you do in fact ovulate soon.

  • I wouldn't put that much stock in a temp dip. You BIO already today so that was good. I would do it again tomorrow night or Sunday morning - definitely not again today or tomorrow morning.
