The number of fingers I have on my left hand.

The number of fingers I have on my right hand.

The number of toes I have on my left foot.

The number of toes I have on my right foot.

Also the number of people signed up for an ACA/Obamacare exchange in Washington D.C. - our nation's capital and our president's "home." According to the U.S. census bureau, the population of D.C. estimated for 2012 was 6,897,012 people. That means a whopping 7.24951616729099 e-7 of people in D.C. signed up for Obamacare.

Re: 5

  • Its completely understandable. Not everyone has to sign up for insurance under the ACA. Medicade programs in almost every state were expanded and are accepting more people and people who already have insurance do not need to sign up for new coverage unless their plan got canceled.

No it's not. A multi-billion dollar program that has 5 people sign up isn't understandable. It's a friggin' waste of taxpayer time and money. In any other field, this program/project would be a NO-GO!

Maybe people didn't need to sign up because they were already covered by an employer's health plan.

With an 8.9% unemployment rate for a population of 623,000 people  that's hard to reconcile. If every single employed person had insurance through their employer (including self employed) that leaves about 50,000 unemployed. Some would qualify for Medicaid or Medicare but it's still hard to believe that what's left only leaves 5 people who need insurance because they aren't covered by an employer.

  • You don't have to sign up through the website. For us it was great resource because it allowed us to compare and research several dozen policies and companies in one place. From there we picked the best for what we needed and went to that company. It was very simple. My policy is pretty much the same price, better coverage and a lower deductible. It may be a "waste" to some but it was great for us because neither employer offers benefits. I'm sure we are not the only people out there that did it this way.

Or their spouse's employer or their parent's employer.  Since children can remain on a parents plan until they are 26, that probably takes care of a lot of the unemployed.
