Could use your help, please

Ladies, I know a lot of you are Moms of kids who love to draw, so I'm calling on you for help!

My friend's son is 3.5 and was recently diagnosed with Pediatric Brain Stem Gliomas. Basically, he has benign tumors growing in his brain. While it's easy to think, "benign - that's great - it's not cancer!", it's not that simple. The tumors are inoperable in the area of the brain he has them in. They'll keep growing and forming new ones. The tumors, unless they can be stopped, will eventually affect parts of his brain that control motor skills, etc.

He is under aggressive radiation treatment at Duke this month - 25 treatments in 30 days, I believe it is, in order to stop the growth (and hopefully shrink) the tumors. There is no cure and no known cause to these tumors.

So. I need your help. This little guy LOVES super heroes and Ninja Turtles and his parents have asked their friends, and friends of friends, to send ANY kind of drawings to him, as he loves receving mail. The pictures will help him take his mind off of medical things during treatment and recovery, too.

If any of you would like to help, I would love to have more pictures sent to him. I know it would mean a lot to his parents that so many people are keeping him in their thoughts, too. A lot of us are friends on FB - if you're interested, please message me there, or send me a PM here (just let me know, since I never think to look for messages) and I'll send you his name and Pgh address.

Thank you thank you!!

  • How awful.  I just can't even imagine what parents of a sick child have to go through.  We have a big superhero coloring book at home, I'll have the boys color a picture tonight and contact you on FB.
  • Oh wow Clare - I will keep him and his family in my prayers, how hard for them!  Do you think he'd like princess drawings too :)  I'll have to scour through our coloring books to see if we have anything close to super heroes!

  • Thanks, ladies, I know he won't mind pictures of anything! I drew an elephant and pumpkin for him from Sean, Conall just scribbled lines, Gavin drew an army plane, and I drew a superhero flying over Pgh.

I'm sure princesses are perfectly fine! Thank you so much, this means a lot to me and K's Mom.
