Thanks to everyone for the well wishes last week. I saw a couple of pages in addition to my thread but I've been too emotionally spent to be on the boards over the last week.
I spent last week Monday night in the hospital (I was 1-2 cm dilated and couldn't feel the contractions I'd been having) and my water broke early Tuesday morning. After that, they tried to see if I was more dilated by using a speculum, but there was too much fluid to see. They didn't want to check digitally because it would increase the risk of infection, which could mean id have to deliver even sooner. I got more meds which stopped the contractions for a while. Throughout Tuesday and part of Wednesday, I had irregular contractions that the monitor wouldn't pick up. They weren't too concerned because they were not regular or close together for the most part and the babies were doing well.
Wednesday afternoon and evening, I had some bad ones but they were still quite irregular and still not picked up on the monitor. At about 750 pm, I went to the bathroom, felt like I might pass out, and felt like I had to push. I had to call for the nurse, and she yelled "don't push!" And got a few more nurses to help me to bed. Turns out I was fully dilated. They rushed me to the OR ( in case baby B needed a c-section), I got an epidural and started pushing as soon as I was numb. Our little girl (Alex) was born at 905pm, 2 lb 11oz, and our boy (Sam) at 922pm, 3 lb 1 oz at 30 weeks 4 days. A is doing really well. S needs more help with breathing than A does but is still doing pretty well too. They'll be in the NICU for a while. I'm in love with them.
