NBR: Broadway Shows

Re: NBR: Broadway Shows

  • Thank you guys so much for all of your help! I think we have actually decided to go next year and plan a little more in advance to make sure we make the most of the trip. The only dates that we could go this year were 12/7 and 12/14. Instead, we are going to go to Lancaster, PA and shop & go to the Dutch Apple dinner theater. Definitely not NYC and Broadway, but it will have to do for this year.
That's in my neck of the woods!  :)  I'm about an hour East of Lancaster.  We actually lived in Lancaster for a year before we were married.  If you can, try to track down Wilbur chocolates.  Very good!  :)
Got it! I adore chocolate so that is right up my alley. :) Thanks! I'm about 2 hours South.

They do a factory tour during the week if you're interested.  The Harley factory in York does one during the week as well.

    My favorite Cake Wreck ever.

  • I love Wicked! It was much better than book and is my 2nd fave play ever- (nothing beats Rent!)
We saw the Lion King in the summer, and it was fantastic. I had seen it once before, about 8 years ago in a different theater. I would actually suggest getting seats near the front of balcony for this play since there is a lot to see. I think even in 2nd row balcony our tickets were around $130 each but it's totally worth it.
We ate at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. which was just around the corner about a half block away from the theater. They had a lot of variety so if someone isn't into seafood there's other options. The lines were long so I'd say go there a couple hours before show time so you have time to wait ( I think we ended up waiting 20 mins for a table for 5), but once seated our service was fairly quick and the food was amazing!

Another fave place I like to eat at is Ellen's Stardust Diner. It's on 51st and Broadway, right next to where they show Mamma Mia. They have a HUGE menu, tons of variety, but the best part of going there is the singing waitstaff. They are all aspiring actors and actresses and they take turns singing show tunes or popular songs, and dancing on the half wall behind the booths. It's great fun, but can be super crowded--especially before show time. But again, if you allow yourself the extra time, it's totally worth the experience.
