People and (not doing their) jobs!!

I was thinking of Mana and her deck when I was on the phone with the surgicenter this morning.  Turns out they billed my insurance company for a procedure on my left AND right eye.  Ummm.... I only had work done on my left eye.  And what makes it more of a hassle is that the money from the insurance company came out of our spending account.  SO now I have to watch to make sure that gets replaced and that the funds are sent for the other bills.  How does one mess that up???

Re: People and (not doing their) jobs!!

  • I love all of the medical billing situations. My insurance denied ALL of Caroline's medical expenses from her pediatrician. THat was fun. THEN they paid it all, except her Hep B vaccine. Um...? I finally got it all figured out, but what. the. heck.

Sorry you have to deal with this!

  • Oh yea... Medical billing is the worse! This is why I open every explanation of bill, 90 percent of the time it's WRONG.

  • I actually paid 2 bills for C that  I now realize my insurance wasn't even billed for. I called DuPont and explained...and now I'm hoping they send me a nice fat check.

Our insurance dropped C after July 31...I had to call and explain that she was still alive and there was no reason for dropping her. They are so smart.

  • I'm dealing with medical billing right now for this pregnancy and my counselor and its a PITA. I have a high deductibe plan and so that makes it more complicated.

and @queensteph17 WTF? they dropped her from your insurance?

  • @amccul20 YES! When babies are first born they are billed on the mother's insurance info and you have 30 days to add them. Well, somehow they didn't add her and everything after July 31st was denied. It's been a huge pain.
  • Haha I have a survey I have to complete for Lilly's last ER visit, for hitting her head.  I have to say what it is from, because they want to lay responsibility on someone else since our deductible was met WAY back in March.  Mainly they want to know if it was a car accident or on someone's property.  Only her  mom won't tell us what happened.

It's awesome, especially because her mom said they won't use my insurance anymore because her H has a WAY BETTER one... and this is the second time it was used after she said they switched.  I won't be taking them off because this has been happening for 2 years now.

  • @queensteph17 They did that same crap with M. I went in for his 2 month visit and my doctor wouldn't see him because he said he didn't have any insurance listed, and I wasn't paying the crazy amount they wanted for the shots out of pocket. Thankfully, I got it fixed that week and didn't have any other bills because of it.

  • Insurance is a giant PITA. When T was born, H and I were still on different plans. That took the hospital for.ev.er to figure out how to bill. I don't know what was so difficult. Bill mine first and use S's as a secondary. Just like I told you when I checked in....

  • I don't understand why it's so hard for providers/insurance companies to bill things properly! I'm so glad I don't work in the health insurance industry.

  • The bills and explanation of benefits are confusing enough without the added stress of being billed incorrectly. DH and I were both trying to figure out numbers. B/n what they charge, the in network "discount" and then the percentage owed, I give up.

  • Insurance makes my head hurt...
