insomnia

I woke up at 2:30 last night and never fell back asleep.   this is my pup Ratchet sleeping comfortably on top of me while I was staring at the ceiling.

anyone else get insomnia through their pregnancy? i'm sure this is my body's way of getting me ready for the baby...although I think a couple more months of sleep would be nice!

i've also got a pain in my lower back again, like my tailbone area. someone was telling me the other day your bones actually move as the baby grows which seems to make sense but I wouldn't expect it now:)

Re: insomnia

  • I love your pup! He's so adorable!

Sorry about the insomnia and back pain though! Not fun.

  • Yes. Insomnia is no joke :( sorry you are struggling with it already. That and the back pain. Ugh. My hips spread at 8 weeks...I gained in weight but went up two pants sizes in two weeks. So yes your bones could already be stretching and moving.

No sleep + back pain ≠ a good time. Sorry you're dealing with it.

I've been having major sleep issues lately (I wouldn't call it insomnia, but I wake up several times during the night and used to be able to fall back asleep right away. Not anymore), but I don't know if it's from being pregnant, or the fact that we're trying to buy a house, or the fact that DSS's mother is completely BSC, or a combination of everything.

I'm definitely not looking forward to any back pain. I have several cysts in both sides of my lower back that are often uncomfortable as it is. I guess we'll see... This should be fun.

ETA: I meant to mention how cute your pup is!!!

  • He's so cute! <3

I have struggled a lot with insomnia... Not because I am uncomfortable but more worrying/anxiety related. It sucks.
Congrats to my TTC buddy Madeline! Cheering for all the strong 3T ladies!

  • Aww your dog is adorable!

I had trouble sleeping during the first few weeks, but it's gotten a little better for me.  Now I just keep waking up when DH wakes up grr!  I had some hip pain that I attributed to bones moving, but it's mostly gone now.  I just occasionally get it.

Hopefully it gets better for you!

  • Yup, but I've always suffered from insomnia, so I don't know if it's related to being pregnant. I would say it's worse though. And I thought I was imagining it, but my hips and back started hurting three days ago. But no nausea!

  • Your body starts making progesterone right away. Progesterone is responsible for "relaxing" your muscles and ligaments, allowing your body to stretch and grow. Pain early is normal. A prenatal yoga video helped me (I wish I had the motivation to do it more than 2 or 3 times... Ha!). Sorry about insomnia!
