What are the ingredients in some shampoos that cause itchy scalp?

I notice that after I use certain brands of shampoo (Herbal Essences, Garnier to name a few) I get itchy in spots on my scalp.

I want to avoid this without having to buy $$$ shampoo, so I am curious if anyone knows which ingredients to avoid.

Herbal Essences tends to have a strong fragrance in my opinion, so I wonder if that could be it. I do know that Garner Fructise breaks my husband out in a rash (from when he'd use my shampoo). I no longer buy it

Could be the strong perfumes, could be the sufates. I don't like to spend money on shampoo either, but I buy the large bottles from the salon or ULTA when they're on sale. They're usually about $20 and last me almost a year. I've found if it's something you really like, it's worth it. You could also try a head and shoulders type for itchy scalp. H uses this and it really works for him.

I am sensitive to dyes and fragrances. I buy this shampoo called 2chic. It comes in a green bottle. You can get it at Ulta or Walmart. It is kinda pricey $8. But if you buy it at Ulta you can use thier coupons on it. I have never had a bad reaction to it. Hope this helps!
