Where to shop?

Hello all! I am a 23 year old woman and I'm having a really hard time figuring out where to shop that is appropriate for my age. I used to love stores like American Eagle, Pacsun, and Hollister. When I shop there now, however, I am surrounded by very young girls and the new trends at these stores seem inappropriate for my age. I am newly married and would also like to find clothing that is good quality but also reasonably priced. Where do other women my age like to shop? Also, what sections of the big department stores do you shop in?

Re: Where to shop?

  • I like JCrew and Banana Republic for everyday wear and work wear, and BCBG for trendier items.  I'm also a fan of The Loft, especially for work clothes and accessories.  They often have 50% off the entire store sales, and I can stock up on dresses, skirts, etc. for relatively cheap.

Fourth Anniversary 10 Comments 5 Love Its Name Dropper

I love stores like H&M (although there is not one in my state :(  ) or Express. I'm 29, I'll be 30 in April, and still love shopping at Forever 21 also (although my mom jokes and says I can't anymore). Some times I do feel like an old fart shopping in the teen/early 20s stores, but I like the styles. I also like Urban Outfitters and even Khols or Ross. I don't have one "style". I'm 29, a wife, a mom, a nurse, and I think I still look good considering all of that. Not so sound superficial or anything like that, but I'm 5'6" and 127lbs, and finding jeans is really the hardest thing for me. I'm not too big on name brands for clothes, if it fits, and I look good, I will wear it.
  • I echo JCrew and Banana for casual. If you need professional attire try Ann Taylor or the Antonio Melani line at Dillard's. Also, avoid shirts that advertise which store you bought it from. And don't wear pants with writing on the backside.
  • haha @mommyliberty5013, I completely agree!!! I refuse to wear shirts with their logo and pants with writing on the butt! It saying "look at my butt".

  • For your age- Zara, jcrew, ASOS online, even Target. Checkout Jaclyn Day's blog too! She has great, affordable links to deals on fashion friendly clothes.
  • I like the Limited, Macys and the Gap. I also shop at Goodwill (and other resale stores), Walmart and Target. If I had a Kohls I would shop there.

For jeans Levi's have been the only ones that fit me well and comfortably.
  • I am a fashionista on a budget so I look through Anthro, J Crew and Banana catalogs and try to find similar styles at stores like Marshall's and TJ Maxx.

I love Ross!! I shop at Ross all the time. I always get complements on my outfits too. It's a messy store, and very cluttered but if you have the patience and a good eye, you can find some great stuff there.
  • I'm 29 and still really enjoy Charlotte Russe and Forever 21. I mean, granted, I have to pick and choose "age appropriate" things, but you can't beat the prices!

When I have more money to burn I LOVE Arden B and can always find good things at Banana Republic and Express.
  • I buy my jeans from Vault Denim but for tops, I go online. I hate going to the mall.
