Birthday Parties

Hi Ladies!  So my son this year asked if we could have his birthday party at Chuck E Cheese with his friends from his preschool class.  I am fine with this because there is no mess for me to clean up and I don't have to worry about a bunch of wild boys at my house!  So my question is what day do most kids have their "friends" birthday parties.  I know all the parties he has gotten invited to were on Saturday afternoons.  Chuck E Cheese has a deal if you book online you get extra tokens for a Sunday birthday party.  The times for Sunday are either 11 or 1:30.  I wouldn't have it at 11 because I know that some families go to church Sunday mornings.  Do you think kids will still come with it being a Sunday afternoon?  Should I just go for that Saturday afternoon to play it safe??

Any suggestions/advice would be great!

Thanks

  • We started having "friend" parties with her daycare buddies for her 3rd bday. I am thinking you and I live near each other in PT? Not sure how I remember that. DD turns 5 in December and we've been to lots on sundays. Most start at 1ish. Hope that helps.
  • Yes I do live in the PT area!  Seems most parties he gets invited to from daycare and preschool are at SeaBase.

  • We've also been to Sunday parties.  I know you were going to try to stay away from 11, but I will say that we went to an 11am CEC party and there was no one else there.  It was AWESOME!
  • I would have the 11, I just wasn't sure if some kids wouldn't be able to make it because of going to church Sunday mornings.  I wish they had like a 12:30 option on Sundays.  I am torn!

This is where DD is requesting this year. Middle of winter not so sure with all the germs. Ha. We have had a couple at Steel City Allstars and she has been to a couple at Lokay lanes recently. The kids love to bowl!!
  • I think you will be fine with 11 on Sundays.  For us, that wouldn't be an issue...and for those that it might be, it's easy enough to plan around.  Most churches have Saturday evening mass and early Sunday morning mass (my church even has a Sunday evening mass).
  • Yes my niece just had her party Saturday at Lokay Lanes.  It was fun, it was just a lot for them and took forever!  My son will be turning 4 so maybe next year we will go with bowling!

The 11 for us wouldn't be an issue either, I may just go with that time.  My youngest son is 1 and he usually naps from like 2-4, so the 1:30 party he would be a bear at!

  • Either time on a Sunday wouldn't affect us and, like Meghan said, people will change their Church schedules. I would still opt for the 1:30, though. I personally didn't care if I missed a football game, so it gave me something to do with Gavin while DH watched the game.

Honestly, though, it's the CEC thing that is giving me the jitters. BUT, only bc the one time I went, I was really sick the next day - like, I had to sit in the office bathroom for an hour before I could make the drive home. And even then, it was an iffy drive!

Coincidence or not, it's scarred me for life.

    My three sons!

  • I think any time on a Sunday is fine. I would opt for that vs. the Saturday if it can cut costs as parties add up year after year...
  • I guess I would prefer the 1:30pm time slot because Sunday mornings are crazy in my house, but then again, so are Sunday evenings and sometimes Sunday afternoons!   If we were to be invited to a party at 11:00am on a Sunday, DH would most likely be able to take him.  We would do what we could to make it work, otherwise we would politely decline.  Do what works for your family.   You won't please everyone, and it is OK to decline an invitation if it doesn't work for your schedule.
