More house building questions
When did you put a contract on a house to be built and what was the average length of time between then and settlement?
We looked at a ton of houses online last night and DH is still leaning towards building. My concern is building during the winter months and it taking longer than expected. If we aren't going to build, then we are going to stay with my parents for a few months since there is a months worth of weekend work that needs to be done at the beach house before we can stay there for the winter. I'm not willing to spend a whole month working on the beach house to only stay there a month. But if we are going to build, we are taking into consideration the predicted snow fall and colder than average temps they are calling for this winter and spend the time working at the beach to be able to stay there through the winter.
Re: More house building questions
We signed our papers mid-January. Broke ground 2 March, settled 26 May. The Jan-March delay was because there were other houses in front of us. Karen is right, after the roof is up, it's quick. We got a lot of rain and at one point our basement was a pool, but they pumped it out and kept going. It was so fast.
