Who else went to see "Catching Fire" over the weekend??

Some coworkers and I took 1/2 days on Friday, busted out of this place, and went to the movies!! :)  LOVED the movie.  Even though I read the books, I still found myself holding my breath and being all anxious for 2.5 hours!!

Re: Who else went to see "Catching Fire" over the weekend??

  • Not yet. We were traveling over the weekend. I don't know if we will get a chance over the week while we have family to actually babysit though. So it may be awhile before I see it.

I've been hearing great things about it which makes me happy.

  • I likely won't see it until it hits the OnDemand queue- I heard the theaters were full around our house even on Sunday, and I much prefer the empty theater viewing when I make it out to the theater (which anymore is to watch a kids movie with EJ). I just like being cozy on my couch when I get into a movie.
Eager to see it though!  I have heard so many good reviews so far!
  • I'm going tomorrow night. I can't wait! I really liked the first one.

Catching Fire was my favorite of the three books, so I'm really excited to see it on the big screen.

I'm not a huge Josh Hutcherson as Peeta fan, but that doesn't ruin the movie for me.

  • Lisa-agreed.  He's adorable in a soft kind of way, but not what a pictured as I was reading the books.

Now, Gale on the other hand.....excellent casting, in my opinion.

  • Yeah I agree about Peeta. I was team Peeta through the books but I was really disappointed with the casting. He is ok acting wise I guess but definitely not what I pictured

  • I saw it last night and loved it!!  I had really wanted to see it at the imax theater, but the showing was later than we wanted.  I agree, I was also stressed out most of the movie!  (Although, I did forget a lot, and didn't remember some scenes until I saw them, so I didn't always know what was coming.)

I'm in the minority, I love Josh Hutcherson as Peeta.  At first I wasn't sure because I thought he was too wimpy, but he has definitely grown into Peeta for me.

  • I'm going on the 1st. So glad to hear people are liking it so much!

  • I doubt anyone will see this until after Thanksgiving. But we saw it yesterday. OMG, so good! It's been awhile since I read the book, which is probably a good thing. But I think they stayed true to the story and was one of the best book adaptations I've seen. They just made the book come alive! The casting was fantastic. Elizabeth Banks as Effie continues to be absolute perfection. Loved the new characters casting. Johanna was great! Finnick wasn't exactly how I pictured but he was definitely perfect in his acting and demeanor! And this movie may have turned my opinion on Peeta around. He was great. Just loved the whole thing! I swear I was tearing up the whole time too!

  • I saw it Tuesday night and I really liked it as well. I still don't love Josh as Peeta, but I liked him better in this movie than in the first one.

I agree Finnick wasn't as I pictured, but I thought the actor was great.

  • Finnick wasn't as I pictured either - I have forgotten a lot from the books, but I thought he had jet black hair and really blue eyes?  I'm not sure why I pictured him like that!

Peeta won me over in the jabberjay scene.
