What are you making for Thanksgiving?  The Sweet Potatoes I linked in Thanksgiving sides post. Oh, and stuffing.

What are you most looking forward to eating? My sweet potatoes, and my momo's mashed potatoes.

Who are you most excited to see? My cousins.

Are you hosting? If not, where are you going? Our condo is too tiny to host. We are going to my Aunt's house.

Any funny Thanksgiving stories? A full house of about 25 Cubans is always amusing. LOUD, but amusing. One year my Aunt decided she was going to make a chocolate souffle. The problem was, she got super duper drunk (which she doesn't usually do), and totally screwed it up and it ended up more like chocolate soup. That was  funny in itself, but someone always mentions it every year, which prompts her to yell, very loudly, "Shut up about the fucking chocolate soup!" It's sort of an honor to be the family member that gets her to do that.
Your family sounds just like mine.

My mom under cooked the yucca one year and we've never let her hear the end of it. Every Thanksgiving, someone has to ask if they're going to break their teeth on the yucca this year and she gets SO MAD.
Ha! It's not a Cuban GTG if no one is yelling.

  • What are you making for Thanksgiving?
I'm going to offer to make homemade cinnamon rolls for breakfast

What are you most looking forward to eating?
Turkey and having wine, my MIL always has a great wine selection

Who are you most excited to see?
My SIL, she's awesome even though we aren't really that close

Are you hosting? If not, where are you going?
Negative, we'll be heading down to my In-Laws tomorrow and we will do Thanksgiving at their house with my SIL and her husband.
    Any funny Thanksgiving stories?

Not funny but I'm excited because we also do Christmas at Thanksgiving because it's the only time we can get this side of the family together so I'm excited for Christmas part 1!

  • What are you making for Thanksgiving?  I'm making mashed potatoes to drop off at my ILs, and I'm making a Bailey's cheesecake and some other dessert (haven't decided yet, either a cake or pie with some sort of fruit) to bring to my step-brother's house

What are you most looking forward to eating? My MIL's sausage stuffing... I really have no idea what my SIL is making for dinner.

Who are you most excited to see? My nephew (about 1 1/2 yo)

Are you hosting? If not, where are you going? Nope. Stopping by my ILs then heading to my step-brother's

Any funny Thanksgiving stories? Nope. Usually we go to my mom's house so my aunt & cousin are there and there and we get into big debates about global warming, and/or whether or not there's really a ghost in some picture that my cousin took. That's our big drama for the day, this year should be quiet though.

  • What are you making for Thanksgiving?
Sweet potatoes and something else. The whole family has been sick this week and I'm way behind on any planning.

What are you most looking forward to eating?
Pumpkin pie I guess. I'm actually more excited about the promise of my SIL's BIL's crawfish ettoufe on Friday than anything on the Thanksgiving menu.

Who are you most excited to see?
Ugh, I'm sort of dreading this. My sister is hosting. The same sister who didn't want me to come over to her house before her wedding because she thinks Archer is a terror because he doesn't sit still with his hands in his lap and that we are bad parents and can't control him. She has this warped memory that when our parents gave us instructions that we always listened the first time. Ha.
We had a big confrontation about all of this a few months ago. I'm still hurt and feel awkward bringing the boys to her house because I don't feel like we're welcome if we don't fit into this little box of how she thinks we should act. I've tried to let it go, but my husband is still really resentful of the way she treated us. He wanted to skip it all together, but my parents and my other sister are coming from California and that would have caused even more drama. I am looking forward to seeing my youngest sister and my parents and my in-laws.

Are you hosting? If not, where are you going?
    I wish I were hosting.

    Any funny Thanksgiving stories?
Hopefully something funny will happen to make this Thanksgiving more bearable.

Thanks. I think it'll probably end up being ok if we just try hard to focus on enjoying the rest of the family.

What are you making for Thanksgiving?  Shaun's gma doesn't let anyone bring anything (and makes the grossest food of life) and I'm not sure what I'll make for my mom's house. I'll just help her with whatever she's planned

What are you most looking forward to eating? My mom's stuffing, for sure.

Who are you most excited to see? My nephews. It is so fun to see my boys and my nephews all together.

Are you hosting? If not, where are you going? Nope, we're traveling 3.5 hours to get to our hometown and spend the holidays with family.

Any funny Thanksgiving stories? Nope. To be honest, my Grandma just took a bad turn and was put in a nursing home and my step-dad's family (he has 9 siblings) who we always celebrate with is in a bad place and haven't planned anything yet. I'm a little sad about Thanksgiving this year.
I'm sorry about your Grandma and your step-dad's family. Hugs.
