LED Christmas Lights

Does anyone have them?  We had to replace some of our old strands and LED was the only option.  We figured we might as well buy enough for the whole tree to maintain a cohesive look.  We got red, green, and white and the green is a little...glaring.  Will I get used to it?

Re: LED Christmas Lights

  • We had LED lights for our outside decorations. They were bright, but I got used to them. Did they only have the LEDs?

  • Yea, I got some for the tree a few years ago. They are bright.

  • I still have the regular ones...I need to buy them in bulk because I prefer them over LED. But if I had to switch to LED, I agree @janma529 I would get all LED so they matched.

For what we were looking for, yes.  Here's the thing, H grew up with colored lights on his tree and I grew up with white.  So when we first started decorating a tree together, we compromised by getting red, white and green lights.  When we realized that we needed to buy new lights, I suggest maybe just getting some white and mixing them in with what we already had.  He was emphatically against that, so the search was on for new red, white, and green.  And I could only find LEDs.

This was us, but since he moved into my house 9 years ago, with my pre-exisiting Christmas decor, and really couldnt careless if I even decorated, I kept the colored lights because it entertained my toddler.

Now, that I am a little more grown up, I really really want a pretty tree with classic white lights and more mature type ornaments. You know that pretty one you put in your front room that you can see from the street. But still keep the crazy multi colored, mish mash of sentimental ornaments on the main tree in the living room. This is the only reason I can see needing a formal dining room in our new house. DH is going to be ready to kill me.

  • I have the colored light tree in the front window and the white lights in the family room. I wouldn't care if it was reversed. But right now, the bigger prelit tree is in the family room. Too tall for the living room.

  • I definitely see us doing something like that in the future, too.  That's why we kept our crappy little K-Mart tree from our apartment days.  Someday it might be the "kids'" tree.

Exactly. I like that little nook by your coat closet where your tree was set up last year. You can see it all the time and its not in the way.
  • I only do white lights. Our tree right now is in our "sun room" which is directly off of our living room. I was debating on putting an old crappy tree up on the landing in the loft area so you could see it from the road through big window in the front of the house, but after my tree being decorated for less than 24 hours and a toddler that is trying to use my ornaments as golf balls, the less trees the better right now.

  • @philaphan...I'm afraid of this happening at my house this year.
