They should have warned me...

I thought it would be fun to have a thread about things that you have found very surprising about pregnancy.

And... Go!

  • They should have warned me... that it would be so hard to shave! I've pretty much given up at this point.

  • @iwalktheline, hahaha! I could barely shave my legs and trying to shave my lady bits just wasn't happening. At every appointment I would warn my doctor. Lol!
  • This is post pregnancy, but the hair loss! My goodness! Seriously, worst part of pregnancy.

Oh, and the contractions you have the week or so after delivery as your uterus is contracting.

  • They should have warned me that my tailbone could be dislocated giving birth. I'm 99.9% positive that's why my ass hurt SO bad for like a year. Vagina=fine, ass= not fucking fine at all

This just started happening for me as well about two-four weeks ago, so not until about 16 weeks pp.  It's crazy!

  • Omg ditto shaving! painting your toenails, too. And I'm literally uncomfortable all the time now from the pressure, it constantly feels like my ribs are being stretched, and don't get me started on my lower back.

Waiting on my baby girl <3 EDD 2/5/14

  • SPD...and the heartburn!

Omg painting my toenails or shaving was a challenge for sure! Lol

  • I tried shaving my lady bite towards the end last time. I asked DH how it looked and he laughed at me so I made him fix it for me. He laughed at me forever after that.

They should have warned me that there are times you will not be in control of your body. I once gagged down biscuits and gravy that tasted gross but couldn't quit eating them.

(E.g. nurses, doctors, midwives, students, etc!!)
  • I was wondering how difficult shaving was going to be a few months from now. Thanks for the warning!

Haha @uptowngirl *If* you can reach past the bump, you still won't be able to see. So I had to shave by feeling around and hoping I got it all. Lol And you can forget shaving your legs unless you can turn sideways around your bump, which is really uncomfortable...lol

  • I tried shaving and it wasn't working out so I just quit. Lol. I was scared of cutting myself so I would just rather not.

I would kick my leg out to the side so that my bump was next to my leg. DH said I looked like a frog when I shaved!

  • Oh and they should have told me that post partum bleeding is like 10 periods rolled into one and just because you have one day of nothing doesn't mean you're done! Since we're in the subject of shaving the lady bits, do whatever you have to to keep it as shaved up as possible! It's a lot less mess during said bleeding!

  • Insomnia! I hd no idea this was a side effect. I lost tons of hair at 4months pp and started growing forehead fuzzy bangs in its place. I bought a beard trimmer to handle my lady bits. I didn't want to cut myself so it was easier to wield the battery powered shaver. Honestly worked like a charm.

  • That just because you're breast feeding doesn't mean you won't get your period two months pp.

Also, that you won't have a good, normal poo until a few weeks after having the baby.

  • I didn't have hair loss or the ute contractions. I quit taking the iron they sent me home with once I figured out it was not helping the poop situation.

For me it was the massive, awful acid reflux. And the uncomfortable belly stretching every time it was getting ready to grow again. And the numbness at the top of my belly. And the pain in my low back when I laid down every time I moved.

At least I know I'm not alone. I'm going to EFF thanks to the type of meds that I take for my epilepsy. Hopefully, my milk will dry up quickly.
