What kind of pacifer(s) did you use?

And did you buy the holder/clip things for them too?
Congrats to my TTC buddy Madeline! Cheering for all the strong 3T ladies!

Re: What kind of pacifer(s) did you use?

  • I think this is similar to bottles. It's all going to depend on the kid's preference and you may have to try a bunch before you find one that works.

Both of my kids wanted nothing to do with the pacifier. Delilah never wanted anything, but Zack has recently found his thumb and will use that to soothe himself to sleep sometimes, but still spits out a pacifier.

  • I bought several of the tommee tippee ones and had some Nuk and the Soothies but she's never really taken to any of them. Maybe I can use them as some sort of room decor :)

  • Oh and I definitely think a clip is helpful.

  • We use the soothie the hospital have us, I wanted to switch to a cuter one but they only wanted that one.

Yes for clips at about 4-5 months, didn't need before then.

  • Ditto what bobcee said. The hospital gave us the soothies but she didn't like any of them. We bought lots of different brands and when she finally did take to them it was at 4 months and it was latex not the silicon that she preferred. If people give them as gifts, great but I'd wait to see what your baby tells you he likes.

  • Avent here also. Ditto that clips are super helpful in the beginning. Hint: clip it to the clothes on the side you can reach in the car. They are a life saver when replacing a dropped binkie in the car while baby is RF.

  • He'll only take soothies. We have a variety of others that we tried that he hated and are now collecting dust in a drawer.

  • His favorite was what they gave him in the NICU. They are similar to soothies but orange. He stopped using them all together when he was a few months old though.

  • We use MAM brand. They get wonderful reviews and are built for babies mouth to grow. We LOVE them and we ended up getting clips for them because we would clip an extra one to her haha!

  • DS won't really take any. I bought one of each brand at target. He does like his wubnub which he will take only occasionally. We put it in his car seat and he likes to put it in his mouth but only sporadically.

  • Cora took the avent, and it was the first kind we tried. I have no idea if we lucked out, or if she would have taken the first kind we gave her no matter what it was. She would not take any other kind.

I think it comes down to each baby's preference.

FWIW, Cora's bottle nipple and paci nipple were totally different, but each were the only type of bottle and paci she would take.

Also, we had a clip for her car seat, but barely used it. We wouldn't let her have one unless she was sleeping.
ETA: we wouldn't let her have a paci unless she was sleeping, which meant we didn't use the clip unless she was sleeping in her carseat.

  • We use the gumdrop brand.  It was the one the hospital gave us, and she took to it.  We never tried any other kind.  We started using the clip around 2 months because she needed them for daycare.

  • What @cinderin said. We've got a couple Wubbanub's but she usually just chews on the pacifier in her car seat.

    Lilypie - (VrMh)
  • Depends on the kid for sure. We tried a few different kinds until finding he would take the nuk ones that are all silicone, it can't have the plastic piece on it. Also I don't use the clip, I just carry pacifier wipes to clean it if he drops it.
