Who's ready for Christmas?

Thanksgiving being so late this year seems crazy...Christmas is just over 3 weeks away!!

Are you ready? I did some online shopping over the weekend and some things today. Went to a few stores yesterday. I still have a few more people to buy for and finish up some little things for dd. watching Frozen the other day has spawned all new Christmas gift ideas for her!!

Our elf has been out since last week. He brought some fun stuff the last few days! And we decorated the tree last night!

Re: Who's ready for Christmas?

  • I'm in the spirit, but definitely not ready from a shopping standpoint!  Our December is really packed with work stuff, so I will probably do most of my shopping online.  Our Christmas cards are in, so I just need to address them and mail them out.

We saw Frozen this weekend too, I loved it!

We loved Frozen too! Tangled is probably still my favorite but Frozen is a close 2nd! Dd loved it and now wants every single Frozen item for Christmas!!

Oh and our Christmas cards are in too. This is probably the earliest I've had them done. I need to start working on them though.

  • I did some shopping online on Friday and I have my list of what's left to get. Right now I have Dec. 18th off from work to wrap and mail everything, but I may move that up a week based on my workload.

Luckily, there's not much left to do. We do need to dig through the garage to get our Christmas deocrations out, but I'm waiting to see how DH feels about the manual labor end of it!

Just waiting for my Christmas cards to arrive so I can get started on those. Overall, I think we're in pretty good shape. Of course, I've just heard that there will be a pageant at schoool this month so I know I'll be pulling together either an angel or sheperd costume at some point - I hope they tell us soon. Oh and Sean turns 1 in two weeks so we have that to celebrate too!

    My three sons!

  • DH and I went out shopping last Tuesday and got the boys done.  (Love shopping before Thanksgiving, we had the stores to ourselves!)   I have some other gifts to buy, but it's nothing that going out one Saturday morning I can't get done.

Our Elf came yesterday morning.   I haven't decorated yet, but I can't decorate until closer to Xmas.  If I do it too early, I hate the decorations before Christmas.  I can only stand them about 2 weeks or so.  (And we leave them up through New Years Day).
  • I have a big chunk of my shopping finished. I just need to finish our Secret Santa gifts for my family and I have to get Nathan's sister a gift. Then all I have left is Nathan and he already knows what he wants but he has to go with me.

I won't decorate for a couple weeks. One, all of our decorations are at the old house (they didn't seem like a priority when we moved in July). Two, Nathan is Russian Orthodox so our tree stays up until at least January 7th which is a Tuesday so that means it stays up until at least the second weekend in January. And three, I have no idea where the tree is going or how to protect my ornaments from my clepto dog.

  • We're in the middle of getting our trees up. Right now I have three partially decorated trees scattered about the house, with boxes everywhere.

I was able to pretty much finish the boys this weekend, and now I have to figure out what to do with my parents. I worked with the boys and did handprint trees for them, Steve's mom and my sister, but I want to get them each a gift as well.

My sister and her husband have had a really rough year, and I want to do something special for the two of them. I'm just not sure what I want to do.

  • Nope. Just started this weekend. ;-)

We got the digital files of our professional pictures on Friday, but since my parents were staying with us this weekend I haven't gotten to start on the Christmas card design or print ordering.

We saw Santa yesterday. H wants a Rainbow Loom Kit (done) and T wants socks with bears on them and a blue toothbrush. (!) So most of my time will be spent picking out two more presents each and stocking stuffers.

DH did the outside lights a few weeks ago. We started the inside decorating yesterday and it should be done by the weekend.

The hardest thing left is to pick something for DH and figure out how to get the kids involved in gift giving. I don't think we have time for a pottery painting place this year, but I want them to be involved in some giving to family members. Maybe we'll have time to bake...

Amy, what about buying some canvas from the craft store and doing handprint wreaths or trees. They didn't take us much time, and the boys loved making them for their grandparents.

We painted their hands with the green paint and told them where to put their hands. The next night we dipped fingers and did ornaments. They turned out really cute.

  • Tree is up, decorations are up, Elf came last night.  Christmas spirit level of the kids = through the roof.  seriously, they are beyond excited this year, it's so much fun to see.

I got a ton of shopping done on black friday, then ordered a few more things yesterday that I couldn't find in the store that day.  I'd say between those 2 shopping days, i'm at about 95% done.  mostly just need a few small things and stocking stuffers.

we had our family pictures taken over the weekend, so as soon as I get those back, I can make & order our cards and hopefully get those sent out by the end of next week.

What about doing a date night for them? Theater or movie tickets and a restaurant gift card - something like that. From what you've told me it sounds like they haven't had a chance to spend a lot of fun time together, so that might be nice.

  • I am so ready! We decorated on Friday and all that's left is the tree on Saturday.

We're waiting on the family pictures for the cards, so in the meantime I've hand addresses labels to save me time later (I have a thing about hand addressing Christmas cards).

Logan sees Santa next weekend and the shopping is more or less done. Now I guess it's wrapping up next.
