PIP: Kitchen nook needs revamp/new purpose - Help!

I have a cute little nook attached off one side of my kitchen but because its on the far side of the house it sits unused and forgotten. I'd like to give it a makeover and/or change it up to make it more inviting and/or even re-purpose it for something else?

I've attached a picture. Anyone have any ideas/thoughts?

  • are those benches built-in?

I would maybe get rid of the table and benches, put a desk in the corner so you can have a home command center- a place for coupons, grocery lists, calendar, emergency home info (plumber's #, drs #s, etc)

have you thought about putting high stools there so people could sit and chat with you while you are in the kitchen?

  • @iteachkids81 No they aren't built in...that is a good idea to turn it into an office/"home command center"...Right now its just me and my fiancee in the house so I don't think I'd need the stools but those are also a good idea.

I'm thinking it needs a new paint job too or something...

    Thanks for the ideas!
  • We had the same nook in white, I really liked it but always wanted a cherry finish and some cushions on ours.

When DD2 fell off the bench and got a concussion we gave it to the inlaws and got a regular table/chairs!
DD1(4):VSD & PFO (Closed!), Prental stroke, Mild CP, Delayed pyloric opening/reflux, Brachycephaly & Plagiocephaly, Sacral lipoma, Tethered spinal cord, Compound heterozygous MTHFR, Neurogenic bladder, Urinary retention & dyssynergia, kidney reflux, Enlarged Bladder with Poor Muscle Tone, Heart arrythmia, Ehler danlos syndrome-Hypermobility type.  Possible mito disorder-workup in progress.

DD2(2.5): Late term premie due to PTL, low fluid & IUGR, Reflux, delayed visual maturation, compound heteroygous MTHFR, PFAPA, Bilateral kidney reflux, Transient hypogammaglobulinemia

  • I think having a desk in there, even something in the corner with shelving under the windows anda  nice area rug will help define the area and give a practical purpose. I know I'm always looking for extra storage, places to put things. The walls under the window make a great place for low shelves and/or bins!
