@islandmonkey8 I feel that same way. I would like to think that I could start out naturally, but I'm not the least bit against drugs.
Although, when they gave me the suppository to help pass the m/c they warned it would be full blown contractions and labor. I didn't take any pain meds, because I was dumb and thought I wanted to be able to feel what was going on inside. When the pain meds finally kicked in I had already passed it and had been having contractions for hours. So it gave me the slightest hope that I would be able to get through it med free. I have a pretty high pain tolerance though.

It appeals to me for many reasons; one of which is curiosity. I have had horrendous menstrual cramps for most of my life. I want to see how much worse the contraction part of childbirth could possibly be.

Just an FYI. I got a pain med before my epi to take the edge off and it made me feel weird. I wouldn't do it again if there's a next time. I would go natural until I couldn't take it, then straight to an epi.

The I only thing I had on my birth plan was to get an epidural and have a healthy baby. Unfortunately, it took 3 hours and till I was 9 cm dilated to get one and I had B about an hour later. I think I could have done the whole thing med free.
Since it was taking so long, they did administer another drug through my iv. I do not recommend that. It made me loopy and I could not focus. An epidural still allows you to be mentally present without feeling all of the pain.
