  • hmmm  Why are you posting when you should be working?

You must work for the government!
    <:-P
  • Indirectly, yes.... :)

  • I'm here!

  • I was online shopping.  ;;)

Of course I didn't buy anything!
  • What did you find? I shopped in a store today (amazing!) between clients. Arron brothers. They had a buy one frame get one free deal. Then found some great clearance deals for the kids gifts and sticking stuffers
  • I got the VIP 15 off of 50 from Sephora.  So I was looking at stuff on here. It also has the shaving cream that J wants. We said no gifts because we bought a new TV, but I wanted to suprise him with something small. But I get a bunch of free samples and a birthday gift for free.
  • Stick it in a stocking, then it's not a "gift." It's a "stocking stuffer." That's my loophole haha

And today I was off making a living, Mark! Just kidding, unpaid internship for the win >.<

  • Jean that internship will pay off in the long run.
  • Haha I know :) I'm learning a lot. I just constantly feel guilty for Jared paying for everything. I wish I was contributing too

  • Trying to finish everything up for the weekend, and I normally check all the time at work, but I had a lot to do during the day yesterday too. And I've been lazy on checking, cause it's usually dead.

So Mark, what is the worst part of trying to buy a house?

Normally, trying to find something you're willing to put an offer down on.  This time around, I'm debating between the sellers and the bank.

  • The realtors have been our hardest part. we would like to build the land outright now, so that should be fun. We got to talk to the sellers directly, and they seem up for it, but I doubt their idiot of  a realtor will be too thrilled, because it is going to be a third of the commission.

But I haven't been able to talk to the builder directly, because both agents think they need to be in on it.

    Sounds like fun.... :(

I've had my issues with the realtors, but they're more personality conflicts and differences in the ways of doing things.

  • I think that is our problem too. I don't really trust people, realtors especially. I'm really excited about building, but it is really a hassle.. Although not that buying a house isn't a hassle too.

I don't trust people either.  Especially when you're talking very large numbers. :)

We spent a couple weeks looking at houses.  Winter sucks for buying houses because there's not a lot of inventory out there.  However, it can also be good because there's not a lot of buyers necessarily.

Then we got to deal with the rich asshole sellers.  They bought this house in 2002 and watched it go up in the bubble and then crash back down.  It's priced under the neighborhood and still wouldn't sell.  The house was completely empty and not staged at all.  Also, the house was a basic house for the neighborhoods.  No upgrades whatsoever except for the granite countertops.  Regardless, they still feel like their house is worth the top of the bubble price, don't have a mortgage on it and are content to sit on it and/or rent it until the market recovered.  So they budged a little bit, but nothing appreciable.  You could tell their realtor was tired of dealing with them and mine just couldn't believe them acting the way they were.

Now that I'm trying to close, the underwriters are nit picking every transaction in my checking account, pulling up jobs I haven't worked since college (we're talking almost 20 yrs ago).  The appraiser messed up the appraisal, etc.  Couldn't get my wife on the loan because they couldn't pull her credit.  Amazingly I could though....

On the selling end, couldn't get the buyers to reply to anything.  They took forever to get anything done they needed to do.  It's like do you want to buy the house or not?

I'll be glad when this process is all over....

  • Yeeah. I am so ready to just move already. That just sounds ridiculous. My parents are going to be the same way when they sell their house.

I'm so ready to move too.  Wish I wasn't stuck with this apartment until January.....

Yeah.  We're going to use the time to do anything we want to do to the house.  Get the fridge delivered, etc.  We'll slowly move things over and then move out of the apartment the week the lease expires.

I just don't see any reason to turn the apartment over earlier when it doesn't benefit me and they'll just collect double rent.
    Daisypath Anniversary tickers
  • No, I would definitely keep it. Double rent? Why would you pay double, when you could just pay single. That makes no sense of them. They would be better off to just charge you the rent, so they could actually look for a different renter.

My point was that my lease doesn't expire until Jan 26th.  If I told them on Dec 17th that I was breaking my lease, I'd still owe them 60 days rent plus a 2 month penalty.  So if I don't break my lease, but still turn in the keys, they could still possibly rent it back out should they find a tenant.  So they'd be collecting the rent from me, plus the rent from the new people (thus double rent).

So they'll get the keys back on Jan 26th.  Not a day sooner.

  • Ok. That makes more sense. I wouldn't turn them in till then either. Reminds me of the episode of friends when Ross doesn't check out of the hotel until checkout time...
