what kind of calendar/planner do you use?
Right now, I depend on a regular old-fashioned wall calendar that hangs in our kitchen to keep track of any dr appointments, bday parties, get togethers, etc.... However, I have double booked us or completely forgotten about something at the last minute more often than I care to admit recently. Also, we have this little issue of Brian never ever ever even glancing at the calendar to know what's going on.
So.....what is your system, and how do you sync up with the hubby? we both have iphones, I'm just clueless as to what to do on there to make it so that we both are looking at the same thing!!
Re: what kind of calendar/planner do you use?
We use the Cozi app. I totally forget how we were able to share the same calendar with each other, but it was probably pretty intuitive since we were both able to figure it out.
You can color code events, set reminders, etc. We sometimes slack at using it, but it is nice back up for me every time Rich claims I never tell him anything!
DH set it up so we can both use it, so I can't guide you through that. But as long as you both have google logins, it should be easy.
I also have a private google calendar for keeping track of things that DH doesn't care about and work things. I can see both at the same time and the listings for them are two different colors.
I downloaded the Cozi app but didn't really use it. I use a old fashioned paper pocket calender in my purse for most stuff. I like being able to glance at the entire month and see what is coming up. But we use a weekly white board at home that changes each Sunday to remind us of things that are coming up that week - haircuts, church activities, birthday GTGs, etc.
DH uses his iPhone for reminders. I just have to tell him to enter the stuff
Also, we have a paper calendar in our upstairs hallway so that the kids can see upcoming events, holidays, soccer games, trips, etc. We cross off the days as a part of the bedtime routine. And talk about upcoming events as a family.
Whenever he wants to make plans for something, he calls me and asks if he's busy or if we have plans that night, and I tell him what's going on on that particular date.
I'm considering getting a big wall calendar/planner thing for one of the walls on our second floor, but I haven't done it yet. I've seen some attractive organizing centers out there.
I use outlook for work which syncs to my phone & then under the cloud part of the iphone John & I have a "home" calendar that we both add to so it syncs to our phones. It says that it goes to his yahoo email so I'm sure there's a way to access it online (b/c its a pain inputting stuff on my phone all the time) but not sure how to do that.
I always wanted to use an app but never looked into it.

Also - they are color coded so what comes from outlook is green and what comes from personal is blue.
The thing I HATE about iphone calendars is the lame reminder, alert & repeating choices. They are all preset

this is so confusing to me.

I'll report back if/when I figure it out.
If you do that and need help, just ask. :-)
