So, I am a makeup junkie, I love it, comfortable and confident working with all of it...blah blah blah....I have one huge problem and I can't seem to fix it!
I have very oily skin. No acne, just shine, all over. I need a new routine or product suggestions. I usually use the Revlon HD photo ready or Cover Girl clean foundation for oily skin. I usually get a lighter color, because over time, drugstore make will oxidize faster with oily skin and will turn a weird orange-y color. I use St Ives timeless moisturizer. I like it cause it absorbs quickly and doesn't leave me oily. I usually put on smashbox primer then my foundation, concealer and set with matte face powder to try to control oil...then I do blush, contour and highlight. When I'm all done with my makeup, I even use a setting mist. Well it's only 10:00 and already my makeup is melting off my face. If I barely touch my face, everything streaks, or my makeup transfer off my phone, or my jacket collar, it's bad. To make it even worse, sometime my pores start to show through and my make up settles in them and sometimes the make up still smears and melts off so I'm just left with makeup filled pores! So it's sooo gross! I need help! I am constantly patting my face with matte face powder and it makes it just look worse, lost of makeup CAKED on my greasy face. I have never really tried powder foundation, I HATE the way powder feels on my skin and like a dewy finish BUT NOT DEEP FRIED FACE! I NEED HELP OR SUGGESTIONS!!!
Re: Ugh, foundation help!
Have you considered that maybe you are putting too much product on your skin and that it's chemically interacting and that's why the oil is so bad? You use moisturizer, primer, foundation, concealer, and powder, then a mist. Are they all from the same product line? If not, consider going to one line - products from one line are "built" to work together and to not compete.
Also, it sounds like you are using a lot of drug store brands. They are not bad, but they are less expensive because of the quality of the ingredients inside them. You may be happier with a department store brand or one like Arbonne or Mary Kay, but you will pay more because you will be buying better quality products.
I do sell Mary Kay, so I admit that I am biased to their skin care and foundation, which I have used for 8 years. If you are looking for oil control in a liquid foundation there is the Medium Coverage Foundation. http://www.marykay.com/en-US/_layouts/marykaycorecatalog/categorypage.aspx?dsNav=Ro:12,N:10012-4294967251-4294967249-4294967095-4294967233&=%2fen-US%2c%2fen-US%2c%2fen-US
I switched to (for me) better quality brands. I like Clinique, Mac, and Bobbie Brown.
I also use just my face lotion, a powder foundation (or just powder),and blush. I haven't had any make up smearing in a while. Another big thing was finding a good skin care routine. That helped immensely with how oily my face gets during the day.
The ST. Ives thing is so true...it's a very harsh exfoliator to be using multiple times per week. If you really like it, try cutting back to once per week and in the mean time find a nice cleanser for daily washing.
