The Book Thief Movie. Has anyone seen? (Book spoilers)
My husband and I saw it this weekend and both loved it! I liked where they used Death's narration, and I thought the casting was magnificent. As soon as I saw Rudy, I fell in love and knew that I was going to be ruined at the end. I know someone who thought it was too cheery, which I don't understand. There was enough happiness to know that Liesl was living a good life with the Hubermanns, but it never let you forget that this was Germany in WWII, and the ending had me sobbing, and it even made my husband shed a tear or two.
If you haven't seen it, do you plan to?

I also loved how all the major/important scenes they pretty much kept accurate to the book. Of course there were a few (I consider minor) changes some of which I didn't agree with but luckily they kept the overall story in tact.
I too was bawling by the end (while my husband shook his head...he *never* cries). While I wouldn't say this was one of my "all-time" favorites it was good and definitely worth the theater prices if you can find it playing
