Do you ever sign up for books that you haven't read?

I have my first two picks nailed down and have read them both, but I'm struggling with the third and am tempted to list one that I haven't read but am interested in, based on the description.  I requested it from the library, but there is a hold in front of me, so I'm not sure I'll get it and be able to read it before the deadline to sign up.  Should I just do it?

Yes.  You'll have plenty of time between now and next April to read it.

I do because I give them to my students, so I sign up for books I know they'd like even if I haven't read them myself.

I'm scared that I'll read it and not like it, and then have nothing good to say about it!

But it is my third choice, so maybe I won't even get it anyway.

I got my first choice when I did it this year.

I've only ever gotten my first or second choice.  I think it'd be pretty rare to end up with a third choice but you'd have plenty of time to read the book before the deadline!
