Does anybody still get horrible period related cramps as they get older? When I was a teenager, I used to get them so bad that I would vomit sometimes and need to stay home from school. Once I got on the pill, things were amazing- short, light, virtually pain free periods. I got off the pill a few years ago and now it seems like every month is different pain-wise. Sometimes I still need to stay home from work (like today). I feel super guilty staying home for this reason as an adult. I don't know why. Just makes me feel like a teenager again or something. I heard that they get better with age but it doesn't seem to be the case for me and meds never work.

I got debilitating cramps since I first started my period. And my flow was crazy heavy and lasted 7 full days. I went on birth control and my periods lightened but still lasted 7 days. I could also move around and function because I didn't hurt as bad. Went off birth control and my periods got shorter. BUT every month is a little different. Some months my cramps keep me home if I'm able to stay home from work. Other months I have hardly any cramps. Some months my flow is heavier then others. So far my obgyns have said I'm normal (everything looks ok).

I've never heard that it gets better with age. I have had family tell me things got better for them once they had kids. But I haven't had a child yet so who knows if it's true.
