Do you know anything about pressure cookers?

My mom wants a pressure cooker. My dad slipped this intel to me last night. I don't want to ask her about specifics b/c I don't want the inevitable "...I don't want anything..." BS.

I've linked two pressure cookers that have excellent reviews on QVC. If any of you have any insight or opinion, can you please share it? I've never used a pressure cooker and I'm not sure what to look for...

Cuisanart

Cooks Essentials

TIA!

Re: Do you know anything about pressure cookers?

  • I think Shelly was posting about a pressure cooker last winter.  I don't see her on here very much anymore, but if you are FB friends with her, you may want to ask.  :-)

    I have no opinion.
  • I don't really know anything about pressure cookers but I did watch a demonstration on QVC.  I don't remember which brand but they were saying how safe pressure cookers are today (I guess they used to be death traps??)

Anyways...I know that QVC has really good customer service and you can return most things no question even if you have used it.

  • I do not have one, and while I have read about them I cannot say which is best.  Do you think she is opposed to having a stove top one? VS the electric?  I am sure there is convenience with the electric one but I wonder if it performs as well?  Again, I have little to no helpful information to offer :)

We have this one....got it almost 8 years ago for our bridal shower. Get stovetop. We use ours at least once a month and there's almost no way to "break" it since it's stovetop based and not electrical. Electric always has a high risk of going into the trash bc it breaks after 1, 2, etc years

  • I think I've seen that the Cuisinart gets good reviews. My mom would probably prefer the Cooks Essentials one though, since she's a QVC queen. ;)

  • Haha, same here Val!
