Thankful Tuesday...

I know we normally do this on Thursday but I have something that I want to share.

I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday. She's a single mom with two girls. She lost her job a few weeks ago. She worked for my old firm and they laid off everyone - long story. She has been going on interview after interview and doing a ton of odd jobs to try to make ends meet but she's barely able to keep a roof over her and her girls' heads. Right before she got laid off, she had to declare bankruptcy and now she just found out that her unemployment was denied. I'm sure she can appeal it and eventually get unemployment but that mess takes time. I asked her yesterday if she had any way to make Christmas happen and she said no. She can't even afford to buy her girls' some stocking stuffers. This just breaks my heart. She's a wonderful person and her girls are so awesome.

So today when you're stressed over dumb little stuff (like I am!), just think.. it could be a lot worse.

I've been feeling awful about this since she told me about it yesterday. It just breaks my heart.

This breaks my heart. Can we anonymously send them something? My parents got a random check in the mail last year around Christmas, they still don't know who it was from.

I asked her to give me a list for the girls yesterday but she won't do it. She said that I have my own family to worry about and that her troubles shouldn't be my burden. I sent her a Walmart gift card this morning anyway. I knew she wouldn't accept any help but if I force her to take it, she will

Her girls are 11 and 14.

I would love to help out too!! I think I'm headed to five below today, there's so many little things girls her age love there. If I don't end up there today, I'll go Friday when we go to the mall.

This has really been weighing on me all morning. After I read this I just started thinking how easily these situations happen- a few bad things and *poof* everything you've worked for is gone. I'm just really glad I am in a situation where I can help.

This is exactly why I posted about it. I just could not stop thinking about it. It could easily be one of us. It just breaks my heart.

Thanks again for all of your help! Like I said, I didn't post it because I wanted stuff from her. I just needed to get it off of my chest. You ladies are just so supportive. You little Nesties are such a special group

Janet - I'll send it to you in a FB message. PS I may or may not have spelled your last name wrong on your Christmas card. I'd like to say that I have a really good excuse but I don't. I was watching Witches of East End when I was filling them out so I just wasn't paying attention
