What puts you into the holiday spirit?
This past weekend did it for me. A trip to see the nutcracker with EJ, followed up with warm drinks from starbucks at the Omni, and a ride home with charlie brown christmas CD playing. Then sunday we did some christmas shopping and wrapping together and she was just so good through it all. It was a christmas miracle. The influx of snow showers helps too. But I am worried about this weekend heatwave coming, and leaving us with a blah brown and wet christmas day.
Re: What puts you into the holiday spirit?
anyway- I also really felt the Christmas spirit this past weekend. Friday was Liam's Christmas show at school and Saturday we did a lunch with Santa. The kids have been on their best behavior since then (thanks, Santa!) and they're getting more & more excited each day about christmas.

As much as I hate winter and anything related to cold weather, I was really disappointed to see the warm forecast for this weekend. I want it to be snowy on Christmas!!
I love seeing all of the houses decorated, listening to Christmas music, wrapping presents...really everything about this time of year puts me in the spirit.
I'm not much in the spirit. It just doesn't seem possible it's a week away! Watching Christmas movies with dd is helping. I think maybe once I'm done with work this week and start my time off I'll be more in the spirit
My mom and I took the girls to the Nutcracker this past weekend and it was amazing to see their little eyes light up.
Also watching old holiday movies. Holiday Affair, White Christmas, Christmas in Connecticut. I'm a sucker for old movies.
I really haven't ever had problems getting into the Christmas spirit. I love baking, wrapping, snow, Christmas music, movies and books, trudging through the cold and snow to pick out a tree. The key for me is avoiding or minimizing things that kill holiday spirit.
For instance, I don't actually like the holiday crowds at the store, so I get my shopping done early or shop online. I don't like buying for my BIL, because he is never appreciative, no matter how much thought I put into his gift, so I don't buy for him...I make DH do it and have chosen not to care whether he likes it or not.
