Should Poor Kids Work for Free Lunches at School?
Re: Should Poor Kids Work for Free Lunches at School?
Msmery said "the average person," not "every benefits recipient."
I don't like anybody starving , sad state of affairs it's due to irresponsible parents. The fathers that left the girls with several half related siblings on welfare.
It's so easy to be so holy and thoughtful and concerned to vote for a government agency to look after the poor and hungry. Any idea whose pocket the $$$ comes from?
b.t.w , why do game wardens tell us not to feed animals?
the issue of entitlement fraud is where I think a lot of these bad ideas come from because any other way you seem to want to try to approach it or address it leads to the villagers with their pitchforks and torches screaming that you hate poor people. Heck, I'm one of the poor people! LOLI don't receive any govt benefits but we're not that far from it so I get what some people are up against. The bigger issue for me, at least at locally, is that there are waiting lists to even apply for many government benefits. As far as housing assistance goes here, there isn't even a waiting list because it got too long so they had to close the waiting list. There are kids out there with nowhere to live and being left home alone at dangerous ages while parents work because their parents can't apply for housing or daycare assistance with those things since no one wants to go after the sponges taking up the room for the truly needy. it's absolutely maddening that we can't even have the conversation about doing something about the bad element.
I'm proud that we have a citizenry concerned enough about others that these benefits exist. I've taken people to apply for them or at the very least encouraged them too when they've felt too proud to do so. That's what they are there for. I just want to keep them as streamlined and honest as possible so that we can do the most good for the most people.
Somebody's middle class -- or even upper middle class! -- parent or parents might be unemployed.
Just an FYI.
