  • I could never pick a favorite. At this particular moment, it's Kenny Chesney's "All I Want for Christmas Is A Real Good Tan"  The thought of being on a beach somewhere is just so nice.

  • Favorite:  I like the old classics a great deal.  Bing, Nat, Judy.  Yes please.  My absolute favorite is Carol of the Bells, but it absolutely positively has to be done either WITH actual bells or by a super kickass choir.  No electronica.  In fact...

Lease favorite: Anything by Mannheim Craproller or Transiberian Notanorchestra.  That stuff is shite, man.  And Christmas Shoes must die.

I have very strong opinions when it comes to this topic.

  • Favorite: What Child is This?

Least Favorite: Christmas Shoes...nothing actually against the song but I bawl so hard everytime I hear it that I've just stopped listening to it altogether!

Favorite hymn - O Holy Night
Favorite released-in-my-era pop Christmas song - U2's cover of Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)
    Favorite not-really-a-Christmas-song-but-often-classified-as-such-and-only-gets-radio-airplay-during-the-holidays - 2000 Miles
Favorite pop standard - Walking in a Winter Wonderland (not Christmas, but seasonal)
Favorite song from a Christmas movie - the snow miser/heat miser song, anything from Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas

Least favorites - All I Want for Christmas is You (don't know why, but it just irritates me), anything redneck

ETA - My all-time favorite Christmas album is John Denver and the Muppets - A Christmas Together.  Love the whole thing.  From the fun version of 12 Days of Christmas to the softer and prettier songs.
  • Favorite:  Bing Crosby and David Bowie singing "The Little Drummer Boy"

Least favorite:  I get violent when I hear anything by chipmunks.
@booneybear YES YES YES YES YES.  DAMN CHIPMUNKS.

OMG.  We had that John Denver/Muppet album on record when I was a kid and we listened to it nonstop.  So awesome!

  • Working retail during the holidays when I was younger has made me loathe all Christmas music.  I immediately change the channel when Christmas music comes on the radio.
Except for maybe this one.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTx-sdR6Yzk

  • My favorite traditional song is "The Little Drummer Boy." I REALLY like the Pentatonix version. I also love the song "Where Are You, Christmas?" by Faith Hill.

    I loathe "Dominic the Donkey."

  • Favorite: O Little Town of Bethlehem, Hark the Herald Angels Sing
    Least Favorite: Feliz Navidad
    imageimage image
  • Favorites: Carol of the Bells, O Holy Night (singer MUST be an awesome vocal though), This Christmas, All I Want for Christmas is You, Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree

Least fave: I used to hate Little Drummer Boy until I heard the PTX version. I also don't care for Do You Hear What I Hear.

Side note: I feel like as a woman I should be officially offended by the rape-y context of 'Baby It's Cold Outside' but it's such a fun song to sing! #hellinahandbasket

  • I love Dominic the Donkey...I'll explain since it's high on the dislike list! It's not really the song I love it's the memories that go with the song. Every year since we were old enough to work a mixer my mom sister and I would take a full day and bake cookies a few days before Christmas. We would listen to Christmas music the whole time and Dominic the Donkey is the one song my sister and I would always play over and over again. I'm sure my mom hated it. Since I live across the country now and can't be home right before Christmas, listening to this song brings me back to those times, where flour and sugar and frosting were all over everything and enjoying that time with my mom and sister. All the other Christmas songs run together but it's hard to forget a song about an Italian Christmas Donkey!

  • Favorite: I'll Be Home for Christmas (but the Josh Groban version with the military and family talking in the musical break makes me cry.)
O Holy Night is gorgeous and I have a soft spot for Hark the Herald Angels Sing. SheDaisy's Deck the Halls is fun too.

I cannot deal with John Lennon's Happy Christmas. Grating. I hate children singing most of the time.

Yes! Yes! Yes! I remember listening to this with my mom and sister on our record player growing up. John Denver singing Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas is probably my favorite. I also love Miss Piggy belting out "5 gold rings ba dum ba bum" in the 12 days of Christmas.

Least favorite: anything too sappy. Christmas Shoes makes me want to barf.
