WIJFR: The Wolves of Midwinter (NS)

So many tears.  Why must everyone in this book cry all the time or be on the verge of weeping?  I miss the old Anne Rice.  Her writing used to be both lush and darkly compelling, but now it's just florid and banal sentiment.  I really wanted to like this, but I could not get past the gushing emotions on every page.  So disappointing.  I don't mind the archaic dialog so much, if only there were substance and story to support them.  I didn't include any spoilers in this post because there's no story to spoil.  It's frivolous.
