On to Femara

Went in for an US this afternoon and unfortunately I didn't respond to the second round of clomid. My RE wants me to try Femara, so I'm starting that tonight and I'll go in for another US next Thursday.  If this doesn't work, we will move onto injects.

I'm pretty bumbed that clomid was a bust. After the first round, I kinda had a feeling it would come to this but I was holding on to some hope.

  • Is your doc not having you end this cycle before starting Femara? Shouldn't you start with a clean slate, so to speak, to really be able to tell if the drug works vs just starting it way too late in the cycle, or am I totally clueless?

I'm sorry the increased Clomid dose didn't work for you though. So frustrating. FX that the Femara works for you.

  • Sorry the clomid didn't work. But I'm questioning like lucky, wouldn't this be your third dose of meds this cycle? Is your doctor having you start a new cycle first or just adding femara to the two rounds of clomid?

  • No, I'm not starting a new cycle. My lining is good and my follicles are not even a smidgen bigger than they were at my initial US, so my RE said there's no need. I was sure to ask twice just to double check, and he assured me it would be fine.

FWIW, I'm pretty sure I've heard of that before. The stair-step approach or something?

While I didn't get pregnant on Femara, I responded well to it when I hadn't to Clomid. Fx it does the trick!

Yeah, stair stepping is fairly common over on the TTTC board.
