P Rothfuss had this on Facebook this morning, I found it very accurate. And that's coming from someone who likes fantasy!

Re: Funny Fantasy comic

  • OMG! I can totally relate to this. My brain stutters everytime I read a book with names like that. Why be purposefully difficult? I'm not smart enough to keep up ;)

  • I love fantasy books, but yeah...this comic...yeah.

If a fantasy novel does not have a map, I rarely read it because I know I'll be confused.
Of course most of the fantasy books I've read have a genealogy chart or character reference guide in the back because they need it!

“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?"
"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to."
    "I don't much care where –"
"Then it doesn't matter which way you go.”
