IVF Questions

Well, I was hoping for a Christmas miracle, but AF just arrived.  I was on my last injects/IUI cycle before moving to IVF.  I am trying to look towards the future instead of feeling sad during the holidays.  I scheduled an appointment with my RE for the middle of January to discuss the next steps.  I'm wondering what questions to ask during my appointment.  I'm planning to ask about the percent of live births in my age group with my diagnosis, and how many embryos will she plan to transfer.  I feel like there a million more questions to ask, but I'm at a loss.  I'd really like to have a list put together for the appointment so I don't miss anything.  Any insight from you ladies is much appreciated.

Ask if you will be cycling alone, or if they group people together. What times they can do bloodwork, scans so you know how timing will work with your job. What day transfer they shoot for (day three or five) and why. What protocol they will use. How often will you be seeing the RE vs nurses. That's all I can think of. Good luck!

I don't have anything to add, except that I'm sorry AF had to come at all, especially NOW. Big ((hugs)).

Number of embryos they plan on transferring? Cost of freezing sperm and embryos? Rest periods post-ER and post-ET? Will you need ICSI? Cost? Can you convert to ICSI mid-cycle? (we did this) will you be cycling with other patients?

Thank you ladies! I'm so glad this board exists.  What do you mean cycling with other patients? I didn't realize that was something they did.  Probably a dumb question, but I don't know if this is pro or con.

Some places will "batch" patients so they only do retrievals/transfers certain months. So your cycle might make you ready to start in January but they might hold you in BCPs until February when they have more people.

No pro (for you) and the only con is probably just having to wait longer to start than you would otherwise.

Sounds like you've gotten some good questions to ask. I'm no help b/c I didn't ask any questions. I just called the RE and told them we were ready to go.

Also, check out the IF board on the bump. I learned a lot there.

GL! The only other question I can think to add is with how you responded with Iui, what will your dosage be? Are you in charge of ordering meds or are they? (We used a pharmacy that they sent script , we had to call and order.)
