Anxiety over cost to renovate!
My husband and I just purchased our first place in NYC. We need to do some renovations before moving in. Over the past month, we met with a few contractors and got some quotes. Holy Smokes is it expensive to renovate!! I am having anxiety over how much this is all going to cost and don't know where to even start. Does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions for renovating in Manhattan? My husband and I are not DIY and if we tried I am scared of the results. I can't help but feel like we are being overcharged.
Re: Anxiety over cost to renovate!
You probably pay a premium for a reno in NYC. The same work would probably be less outside the city.
One way to cut costs is to do the removal of the old stuff on your own...like rip out your own carpet, counter tops, or whatever it is that you can do. Another option is to go for less costly materials.
