Hello! My name is Kelly, and I am 26 years old. DH is 29, and we will celebrate 4 years of marriage Feb 2014. We have two dogs...both labs: Baylee is 9, and Benelli is 2.5.
I am currently in school for ANP (Adult Nurse Practitioner), and I will graduate in May 2014 (should take boards June/July). I am beginning to look for jobs, but likely won't start applying for any until Feb/March. DH and I currently live in South Georgia, but we really want to move out of state. We are looking at TN, KY, NC, SC, VA, OH, and MI mainly, although I would really not want to move to VA/OH/MI due to the snow! I have lived in South GA basically all of my life, and I don't want to move somewhere that gets a lot of snow (several feet) at a time and it stays for 4-6 months! I'm ok with some snow. DH's dad was military, so they lived in CO, UT, and WA, so he is very used to snow!
I'm concerned that potential employers looking at my resume/CV, seeing my current GA license, will not consider me as a serious applicant. How do I ensure that they know DH and I are more than willing to move? Also, I do not want to transfer my license(s) to all of these potential states now due to the expense. Do you think that would be an issue for a potential employer? I would, however, transfer my license(s) after I received a job offer that I plan to accept. Thanks!
Re: Intro and a Question (esp. Nurses and NPs come in)
Hi Kelly!
Welcome & loved your intro!!! Although i would love to advice about nurse practitioner licence / info - I barely know anything so hopefully someone can jump in & help
Professionally speaking - if you were to add a small sentence or two about relocation in your cover letter explaning it - I'm sure potential employers would appreciate it. Also perhaps try calling a few nursing schools in the area you would move to that way you can check out local credentials needed for your job.
Also I'm totally with you on the snow states - I'm an inner sunshine girl stuck in NJ - good luck with relocation & congrats on your future career!
