Baby/pet gate recs?

I need some recs for decent baby/pet gates. We always had the cheapest pressure mount ones for dd and never really needed them much.

With our dog we started using them a lot to keep her contained in part of the house. And they keep breaking. The original ones we had broke and I bought new ones and they have broken.

I don't want to spend a ton but if I keep having to replace the cheap ones they are going to end up costing a lot! We just use the cheapest ones from target like $11. But don't want to spend more if even the more expensive ones break too!

Oh and I don't want one you need to install just a pressure mount type one

Ours is this one (though I'm not sure it has the swing gate option.) I like that you can get a really tight fit with it.

Does your dog try to knock them down? Our dogs were deathly afraid of them so most of the time we just leaned them against the doorway and then wouldn't touch them. We currently have moveable ones that just stand up because our doorways are huge.

Yeah she would! We generally will just lean them when we are home and she will find her way through. I wouldn't trust her at home on her own just leaning. Even when we have them fully up she is sometimes still able to figure a way!

The only reason we care is that we need to keep her separated from our cats if we aren't around. She would chase them and we would like them to have some freedom and not just be locked in our room

We always crated, so there was no need for gates when we weren't home. 

Can you put the cats on one floor and the dog on another? We did this with the dogs for a while when we got introduced dogs.

Yeah we mostly crate but I feel bad! They are on separate floors but the only way to keep them that way is the gate. The cats are mainly upstairs but I don't want to just lock them in our room. We have their litter box in another room (no space in ours). So they need access to that. When we are home we have a gate at the stairs so the dog can't go up there. But at times when we aren't home, it's nice to gate the dog in a couple rooms on the main floor and the cats can be free a little more. their main litter box is in the basement so it's nice for them to have some access to that. Ugh it's such a balancing act with all of them. I wish they'd get along! I like to give them each some freedom around the house at different times,
