Office desk positioning dilemma!

Hi there, I'm trying to pick out office furniture for our spare bedroom/office and I'm having a tough time with where to place the desk. The room is rectangular with a long bay window across from the door, facing a preserve (great view!). The main wall of the room has a day bed for guests, so that wall is out. The only places that would work for the desk are (1) the corner between the door & closet, facing away from the window or (2) in front of the bay window. I'd LOVE to build a desk to go in front of the window and even add some storage cabinets next to it, filling in the whole bay area; however, the window panes are very low, so the desk and cabinets would have to be higher than the window sill. I'm not sure if that would be awkward or not. The other alternative is a corner desk, facing away from the window, but I think I'd go crazy staring at a wall all day. Any thoughts and suggestions are appreciated!

Re: Office desk positioning dilemma!

  • Could you place the desk across from the window, but rather than have it pressed against the window, have it butted against the opposing wall? Then place a a sitting chair near the window to fill the space? I'm not sure if that makes sense, how I'm explaining it. Could you post a pic?
