My boxer had to have some suspicious moles removed for biopsy. Two of the moles are pretty much between his shoulder blades. He had the procedure on Wed. They buried the stitches and used skin glue to keep it together. It looks like the stitches are healing and itching and he has scratched one site and made it bleed. First question- any ideas to keep him from scratching them? Secondly- it's not really bleeding badly (and my vet is closed for the weekend), do I need to be concerned? Anything I can do to help it heal and not itch as much?
Re: Need ideas re: stitches
As far as stopping the itching unfortunately it can be quite difficult. If you can prevent scratching by covering it may be easiest. You can use neosporin on it but sometimes that just makes a greasy mess which can bother them.
