QOTD 1/15

What book did you read when you were a kid that you absolutely loved? It can be any book from when you were 18 or younger.
my read shelf:
Cathy (CathyL7910)'s book recommendations, liked quotes, book clubs, book trivia, book lists (read shelf)

Re: QOTD 1/15

  • I remember rereading Charlotte's Web 3-4 times.  But we're going 18 and below... I LOVED the first 4 HPs.  I say it's a tie.

  • A Time to Kill was the first book I remember reading and actually enjoying.  I think it's the only book I had to read in high school that I enjoyed.  I read WAY more now that I get to pick what I want to read!

  • Mick Harte Was Here by Barbara Park and anything by Jack London or Stephen King.  I was a weird kid!

  • I think the only book I enjoyed in high school was Remember Me by Christopher Pike.
  • I LOVED a lot of crappy Babysitter's Club and Sweet Valley books, but examples I'm not embarrassed of, off the top of my head:
    To Kill A Mockingbird
    Little Women
A Tree Grows in Brooklyn (still my favorite book!)
Oh, and all of the Anne of Green Gables books

  • I loved Garden of Shadows by VC Andrews.  I think I was around 12 or 13 when I read that and I thought it was so scandalous!

  • I loved Bridge to Terabithia, The Joy Luck Club, Little Women, and Charlotte's Web.
  • I think I was at least 18 and under for most of the Harry Potter series.. It was a rather nice surprise as a kid--I was getting allergy treatments at this one doctor's office from the time I was maybe 8 or 9 up until junior year of high school and the secretary at the office got me the first 3 or 4 of the series in hardback as a gift. I still have those.

I also remember enjoying Little Women, The Secret Garden and the Wonderful Wizard of Oz. (I finally found an ebook version with all the Oz books, so I'm a bit excited about finally reading the rest. I've only read two from the series.)

  • @consciousdear88 I got the Wonderful Wizard of Oz series last spring after seeing the movie.  It was a special in the kindle store the weekend the movie came out for like $2.  I've only read a little bit but I want to read the entire thing.  I may work on it this weekend.
  • @sjs1013 I got lucky and it showed up in my recommendations on my kindle. I did start rereading the first book on the way to my inlaws.

  • Wow this post makes me feel old since the first HP book came out after I turned 18!! I didn't read the first one until I was 23.

Anyway...I loved all of Christopher Pike and VC Andrews books. That's pretty much all I read when I was a kid.

no way! I hope they don't ruin it! This is my choice, even though i didnt get the end until i read it after about 8 years of not reading it and was blown away. I still read it and number the stars occaisionally.
