Fitness take 2: at home videos/equipment

I'm thinking about getting a treadmill at some point. I really hate running outside in the cold and dark! We have an elliptical but I really don't like it (dh was the one who wanted it).

Any advice on what to look for in treadmill? I'm thinking of checking out play it again sports because I really don't want to spend a ton.

Any fun workout videos online or DVDs? I have Jillian michaels stuff from a while ago but haven't used it in a while. Anybody do any Zumba at home? I have some wii Zumba but am getting bored with it. I also don't use the controller with it and it is always losing signal and pausing! I have thought about a Zumba DVD set but its kind of pricey. I tried searching YouTube but its time consuming just randomly searching.

  • QVC has really decent prices on videos. They are way cheaper than a lot of other places. I was going to buy Barre3 from Living Social but it was $15 cheaper on QVC even with shipping.

  • I sold treadmills/fitness equipment in college:) For a treadmill, walk on it if you can. You want a belt that feels wide/long enough. Keep in mind if your husband will also use it what his stride is like. Less expensive models tend to have shorter/more narrow belts which can be a challenge if you have a long stride. Beyond that, I vastly prefer a motorized one to a manual one (one that is strictly powered by you). The little ski bars that some models have some people like, but they don't do a ton.
  • I've been trying some videos on-demand, maybe you could try some of those and if you like a particular style/instructor, invest in the DVDs?

  • I'm a home workout junkie.  Love them. I don't have time to go to the gym.   I'm a big fan of the P90X3 and T25.  Less than 30 minutes and intense.  There are various fit clubs in the area that do Beachbody workouts (I host one in Mars on Tuesdays if you're ever interested in trying before you buy).  If you'd ever like help in picking a program, let me know (kristininpa at gmail dot com).  My disclaimer is that I'm also a Beachbody coach on the side but the only reason I became one is because I loved the products.  We have P90X, Turbofire, Insanity, Body Beast and Pump and DH loves his Insanity, P90X3, Beast, Pump and even T25.
